VERSATILE SETUP

PERFECT FOR STUDIO OR OFFICE

SoundTools is committed to the design and manufacture of professional grade audio equipment, whether it’s used on a festival stage, in a concert hall, recording studio, or in your office building. With the SoundTools WallCAT 8, we set out to create a superior XLR wall plate for sending and receiving analog audio and COM over shielded CAT cables. Compatible with analog, DMX, AES3 and intercom signals.

NO SOLDERING REQUIRED

Not all wall plates are created equally. Unlike other brands, our wall plates require no soldering to install. Every connection you need, including 8 Neutrik XLR connectors (4 male, 4 female wired in parallel) in front and 2 Amphenol RJ45 connections in back, come pre-installed and clearly labeled. Because of our commitment to consistent, high-quality analog audio and intercom signals, WallCAT 8s are designed to keep strong, stable connections. Our high-quality brushed aluminum and stainless steel mounting screws (included) are resistant to rust and most wear-and-tear.

SHIELDED CABLE
ALLOWS PHANTOM POWER

SoundTools WallCAT 8s require shielded (STP/FTP) Cat cable to function properly. They are compatible with 48-volt phantom power. Using several SoundTools WallCAT 8s and our SuperCAT cable in your building installation will allow you to run four channels of clear analog audio signals from one room to another or to multiple rooms at once. Combine with our CAT Box, CAT Rack, and/or CAT Tails for the ultimate audio-over-Cat5 experience.

Function

Attach your shielded CAT5 cables in the input or parallel RJ45s at the back of the WallCAT 8. Secure the WallCAT 8 inside a compatible electrical junction box and install into the desired position. Attach your XLR cable ends by selecting either input or output across four channels. Now you can run up to four lines of bi-directional analog audio down a shielded CAT5 cable.

Pair with an additional CAT Rack, CAT Snake, CAT Rack, or WallCAT to send and receive four lines of balanced audio.

F.A.Q.

Do I need to use shielded CAT5 cable?

Yes. Each of the channels share a common ground. This is especially important with digital signals.

How far can I send a my mic lines?

For balanced analog we've achieved distances of over 600ft using our SuperCAT cable. The results will vary with other CAT5 brands. For digital signals we reccommend distances up to 330 ft as per AES/EBU standards.

Can I use all 8 XLRs on the WallCAT 8 unit?

The 4 male and 4 female XLR on the WallCAT 8 are wired in parallel, allowing for an easy selection of input or output. It is important to note that the signal is shared across the selected channel, so an input signal on channel 1 will be split to the output on channel 1 as well.
